We missed our annual road trip in 2012. I went to England and France and Doreen went on her Ancestry Tour to the Channel Islands. In between, we've managed to do some quick trips - Kalispell in April, 2012, Jackpot for a Jeff Foxworthy concert in September, 2012, and a weekend in Edmonton for the Pool Tournament in February, 2013. A few days here and there are fun, but a true road trip is still the best. I have been renovating my house and I'm not quite sure if I want to run away or stay home and finish putting things back together. Running away wins.

It's time to go and we still haven't really decided what we are doing. We have an idea we are going to work our way from Washington to California zigzagging over the mountain passes. Over the last couple of years in her Spring Breakouts Doreen has found pretty spectacular routes through the mountains and really wants me to see some of them. We are looking at a few highways - Golden Chain (SR-49), Lassen Loop (SR 89), and McKenzie Highway (Route 242 Bend). Due to snow, Doreen wasn't able to go over the McKenzie Highway and Lassen Loop. At this point Lassen Loop is open but the McKenzie Highway is still closed.

Whatever we end up doing, one thing is for sure - we are not heading east. Pretty well everything east of Colorado is being bombarded by tornados, flooding and fires.
